pan topped round funnel bowl finely
engraved with a Thistle surmounted by
a Crown , Rose, Two
Buds, Oak Leaves and Acorns on hexacut faceted stem
on firing foot 15cm 5 7/8 inches high c1745 The
present glass was previously in the collection of Arthur Churchill Ltd, and was exhibited
during the
Coronation Exhibition of 1937. It was illustrated in the exhibition
catalogue plate 8 no 39, and is listed
as "an extremely early use of the faceted stem" circa
1745.
